Wound, Ostomy, Continence Nursing Service
Wound Ostomy Continence nurses practice in a variety of settings and offer a tremendous amount of technical assistance, comfort and support to patients and their families. They are trained to address the physical, emotional and social issues of patients with ostomies, stomas, acute and chronic wounds, and urinary and fecal incontinence. Services cover Binghamton, NY and surrounding Southern Tier NY communities.
Persons experiencing wounds, ostomies, and continence issues often face a long term life challenge which requires an expert, consistent multidisciplinary team to assess or evaluate, offer prevention education and provide for supportive counseling. The Wound, Ostomy, and Continence Program at UHS offers such a multidisciplinary approach to these patients, clients or residents across a continuum of care. The WOCN nurses at UHS are board certified in the 3 specialties of wound, ostomy, and continence.
