The Big Day
We offer a full range of birthing options, so you can create
the birthing plan that best suits your special needs or desires. Options
include water labor, epidurals and a birthing chair. All options are
available in a home-like atmosphere for your comfort.
Wilson offers soothing home-like labor and delivery suites
and bright and roomy maternity rooms. Once you’ve delivered your baby,
your nurse will help you move to a room on the Maternity Unit that is better
suited to bonding with your new baby and greeting visitors. Birthing rooms
are semi-private and each is equipped with its own bathroom. Maternity
rooms are also semi-private with their own bathroom.
Our comprehensive security program incorporates card
access, security patrol, specially trained staff, a parent/baby banding system
and camera surveillance to ensure your baby is well protected.
Since support is essential to the birthing experience,
doulas or volunteer labor supporters are available to provide emotional and
physical assistance during labor. Breastfeeding support is provided by our
maternity nurses, with additional help available from certified lactation
specialists.
Our visiting policy helps protect your infant and ensures
you get the rest you need. Our visiting hours in the Maternity Unit are:
A father or significant other may visit until 11:00
p.m.
Other visitors may visit between 2:00 p.m. and 8:30
p.m.
Except for siblings, there should be no visitors
under 14 years of age. This is to ensure the health of the newborn.
Since babies are born at all hours of the day and night,
our Meals by Request service lets you to order anything you want from our
special menu at any time, just like room service!
Moms delivering at Wilson Regional Medical Center receive
two gift packages with our thanks for choosing us. One gift is given in
the Birthing Center and another on our Maternity Unit.
