Neonatal Care

If your newborn is premature, or has a serious illness, injury or birth defect, a neonatologist may assist at the time of delivery and in the subsequent care of your newborn.  If a problem is identified before your baby is born, a neonatologist may become involved to consult with your obstetrician in your baby’s care during your pregnancy.

At Wilson Regional Medical Center we have neonatologists available 24 hours a day.  We also have the area’s only New York State Certified Level 3 Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).  This means we have the people and technology to provide the highest levels of care for even the tiniest of new arrivals.  This will give you the peace of mind that comes with knowing your baby has the most advanced care available - just in case.
