Financial Assistance
Financial assistance is available through PCAP and the MOMS
Program to help expectant moms with the cost of prenatal care.
The Prenatal Care Assistance Program (PCAP) is a state-funded
program that provides pregnant women with a health care provider for regular
checkups, nutrition assistance, education, vitamins, hospital care during
pregnancy and delivery, health care for the mother for two months following
delivery and health care for the baby for one year after birth. It’s
offered at all United Health Services Hospitals’ Family Care Centers, the
Perinatal Center at Wilson and the PCAP Clinic in Owego. Eligibility for
the program is based on income and family size.
The Medicaid Obstetrical and Maternal Services (MOMS)
Program provides pregnancy services in areas of the state where PCAP health
centers aren’t available. Medical services are provided in private
physicians’ offices and include routine pregnancy checkups, hospital care during
pregnancy and delivery, full health care for the woman until at least two months
after delivery and full health care coverage for the baby up to one year of age.
Other services — nutrition and psychosocial services, health education, HIV
counseling and testing and assistance with Medicaid and WIC applications — are
delivered by approved providers. The program is open to Medicaid-eligible
women.
United Health Services’ Women’s Health Connection can help
you determine if you meet the income requirements for these programs. If
you do, they can also help you enroll. Please call us at 607.763.6546.
