Practice Medicine at United Health Services and in
Greater Binghamton The UHS Physician Services Department recruits
outstanding physicians for the United Health Services system as well as for
independent physician practices throughout the region.
A Regional Health System United Health Services is a family
of health services organizations that exists to improve the health of the
communities we serve by developing and maintaining a comprehensive and
cost-effective health care system. We are a not-for-profit organization,
operated for the public benefit. Formed in 1981 through the consolidation of
three community hospitals, United Health Services today has an annual budget of
$677 million and employs more than 5,000 people. As a teaching hospital of
Upstate Medical University, UHS trains over 70 physicians per year in residency
and fellowship programs.
Each of the six member organizations that are
part of United Health Services is owned by the community it serves, and each
organization is governed by an all-volunteer Board of Directors composed of
local citizens. The system’s member organizations are: United Health Services
Hospitals (which includes Wilson Memorial Regional Medical Center and Binghamton
General Hospital), United Medical Associates, Chenango Memorial Hospital,
Delaware Valley Hospital, Ideal Senior Living Center, Twin Tier Home Health and
Professional Home Care.
Teaching opportunities are available with the UHS Family
Practice and Internal Medicine residents, Endocrinology, Geriatrics and Sports
Medicine fellows, transitional year students, as well as 3rd and 4th year
medical students on rotation from Upstate Medical University.
Clinical Excellence United Health Services Hospitals is the regional
referral center for such medical specialties as cardiac surgery, neurosurgery,
renal dialysis, neonatal intensive care, trauma care, reconstructive surgery,
chemical dependency care and physical rehabilitation. It also is the home of the
Decker Center for Advanced Medical Treatment and a Cancer Care Center, and is a
major teaching affiliate of the Clinical Campus at Binghamton of Upstate Medical
University.
United Health Services and

care physicians at a network of rural family care centers throughout a
six-county region and beyond.
