Medical experts to discuss osteoporosis, rheumatoid arthritis

Osteo_sem_350pxIf you or a loved one are living with osteoporosis or rheumatoid arthritis, you can learn the latest information about these conditions from UHS experts in the weeks ahead.

Kelly Miller, FNP-C, of UHS Rheumatology, will present a free seminar on osteoporosis on Tuesday, May 23, from 2 to 3:30 p.m., at the UHS Stay Healthy Center, Oakdale Mall (near the Sears entrance inside), in Johnson City.

Osteoporosis is a bone disease that occurs when the body loses too much bone, makes too little bone or both. As a result, bones become weak and may break from a fall or, in serious cases, from a sneeze or a minor bump.

Henda Bouali, MD, of UHS Rheumatology, will conduct a free seminar on rheumatoid arthritis on Tuesday, June 6, from 3 to 4:30 p.m., at the UHS Stay Healthy Center, Oakdale Mall (near the Sears entrance inside), in Johnson City.

Rheumatoid arthritis is a chronic inflammatory disorder that can affect more than just the joints. In some people, it can also damage other bodily systems, including the skin, eyes, lungs, heart and blood vessels.

Advance registration for these seminars is required. Sign up at uhs.net or call 763-5092.
