Hand Rehabilitation
Our Hand Therapists are Occupational Therapists licensed by the State of New York and two are certified through the Hand Therapy Certification Commission, Inc.

Combined our team has 31 years of experience in hand therapy.  We are committed to the exemplary professional practice of hand therapy.  This high degree of specialization and clinical expertise provides a quick identification of pathology and complex problems to the upper extremity.  This translates to immediate care and most effective forms of treatment which results in a faster recovery.

We work closely with plastic and orthopedic surgeons as well as occupational medicine and family physicians.  This can often start within days of surgery or injury right through patient’s return to a productive lifestyle.

Our comprehensive program consists of individualized evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of upper extremity pathologies, including, but not limited to:

  • Accident or trauma injuries (eg. fractures, burns, tendon and nerve injuries, amputations)
  • Overuse and repetitive motion injuries such as tennis elbow or carpal tunnel syndrome
  • Arthritis and related conditions
  • Joint replacements
  • Neurological condition (e.g. stroke)

Our interventions and treatment may consist of:

Post-operative Rehabilitation:

  • Management of open or sutured wounds
  • Control of scarring (scar management)
  • reduction of swelling

Preventative/Conservative Treatment

  • Management of acute or chronic pain
  • Custom splinting
  • Design and implementation of exercise programs to increase motion and/or strength
  • Training in the performance of activities of daily living through adaptations as needed
  • Conditioning prior to return to work
  • Desensitization/sensory reeducation following a nerve injury or trauma
