Functional Capacity Evaluations
Functional capacities are used to determine an individuals ability to perform
physical work. The ErgoScience FCE is provided by a physical or
occupational therapist to maximize the reliability and validity of the test.
The test is typically performed when a person has reached maximum medical
improvement and is preparing to return to employment. A standard test
lasts 3 to 4 hours and includes dynamic strength, position tolerance, mobility,
coordination, hand dexterity, balance and endurance.
Our functional capacity evaluations are available on the ground floor
of Phelps hall at Binghamton General Hospital Monday through Friday, 7:00 am
through 4:30 pm.
