When the dog bites, when the bee stings, now there’s RapidCare at Wilson Medical Center.
United Health Services has launched RapidCare for minor emergencies at the Emergency Department at Wilson in Johnson City.
RapidCare offers quick service for such minor medical conditions as strains and sprains, cuts needing stitches, minor animal and insect bites, simple fractures and flu symptoms.
The service is open seven days a week, from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.
“RapidCare is designed to make your diagnosis and treatment faster, more efficient, more convenient and more comfortable,” said Karen Zinobile, R.N., manager of the Emergency Department at Wilson. “It allows for the more effective use of time by physicians, nurses and technicians, and gives patients quicker access to the precise level of care they need.”
When patients enter the Wilson Emergency Department, they see a triage nurse who determines whether their signs and symptoms make them a candidate for RapidCare or for full emergency treatment, Ms. Zinobile said.
Because RapidCare is hospital-based, such services as X-rays and lab tests are conveniently available right on-site, just as they are for more serious emergency cases.
Typically, RapidCare patients can be seen and treated in under two hours. |
