Sally Dean Award Winner announced
The Sally Dean award is UHS Delaware Valley Hospital’s highest honor. It was created in memory of
registered nurse, Sally Dean, who during her tenure at Delaware Valley treated her patients, their visitors
and her co-workers with true dedication, commitment and compassion.
Hospital employees are encouraged to nominate someone for the award and several nominated this
year’s winner Lorraine Carrillo, the hospital’s social worker.
Vicki Conkling, RN, Vice President of Patient Services said, in preparing to present the award, “The comments made in the nominations say it all about this year’s winner.” They included “always goes above and beyond for our patients; she is our angel of mercy; gives that personal touch without effort; She treats everyone as if they were her family; she is one in a million, a true gem, colleague and friend.” A patient quote said, “What would we have done without you? You have helped us so very much.” Finally, a long-time employee in nominating Lorraine said, “One of Sally Dean’s strong attributes was the compassion she showed for patients and I feel Lorraine wears those shoes well.”
In accepting the award, Lorraine stated that there are so many wonderful people at Delaware Valley that would be deserving than her, proving her modesty and obviously the reason a nomination said “She is a caring, loving person who loves to help people and is amazed she can be paid for a job she loves doing.”
UHS Delaware Valley Hospital is a richer place for having Lorraine on our team.
