Governor Cuomo Proclaims May 8 as Health Care Auxilian Day
Governor Andrew Cuomo has proclaimed May 8, 2013 as Health Care Auxilian Day in New York State to recognize the dedicated auxiliary members who donate more than five million hours of service each year to their health care facilities and to their communities.
UHS Binghamton General Hospital, UHS Chenango Memorial Hospital, UHS Delaware Valley Hospital and UHS Wilson Medical Center are fortunate to have a strong cadre of very active auxiliary members who work diligently to support the hospitals’ mission to provide excellent patient - centered care. Auxilians initiate, fund and volunteer for a wide variety of patient and family care services. They raise funds for hospital equipment, improvements and services. In 2012, UHS Auxilians donated 102,593 hours. Their fundraising allowed them to contribute generously to the hospitals they support. Recent donations included $32,573 to UHS Binghamton General Hospital; $10,000 to UHS Wilson Medical Center; $27,000 to UHS Chenango Memorial Hospital; and $22,000 to UHS Delaware Valley Hospital.
UHS Binghamton General Hospital and UHS Wilson Medical Center will celebrate New York State Health Care Auxilian Day with an auxiliary board of directors breakfast on Auxilian Day. UHS Delaware Valley Hospital honored their volunteers with an appreciation luncheon in April and UHS Chenango Memorial Hospital will honor their volunteers at their annual volunteer appreciation luncheon in May.
