Comprehensive Psychiatric
Emergency Program
CPEP
You can call CPEP any time of
the day or night for professional
and confidential psychiatric advice.
The 24-hour crisis service is staffed
by highly-trained psychiatric
nurses, social workers and paraprofessionals
under the direction
of a medical director/psychiatrist.
All calls are free and confidential.
A place you can turn to
CPEP has a professional, friendly and caring staff to
assist any person, adult or child, in crisis. You can come
to CPEP any time, day or night, and we can help to
begin the healing/helping process. All visits and services
are strictly confidential.
CPEP mental health services
are located next to the
Emergency Department
at Binghamton General
Hospital. There is a charge
for CPEP services. These
services are covered by
most major insurance plans.

We can
come to you
If you find yourself in an emotional crisis, but are unable
to arrange transportation to CPEP, or if your concerns
do not require acute care, our mobile team may be able
to help. This team can provide mental health evaluation/
assessment, intervention services, interim service
visits and referrals to appropriate community resources.
Permission of the individual is necessary to provide
mobile services to adults, and parent/guardian permission
is needed for children and adolescents. The mobile
service can occur in someone’s home, at a community
agency, or in schools within Broome County.
Help for children and youths
Children growing up in today’s changing society face
social, school and family pressures of increasing complexity.
Many children and teenagers have trouble
coping with these pressures.
Some become angry and
rebellious, while others
withdraw. Don’t let the
problem get out of
control. Get help; the
earlier the better. CPEP
has child and youth
specialists who can help.
The CPEP team is available
24 hours a day, 7 days a week
