Ross University

Wilson Medical Center is an approved rotation site for students attending Ross University School of Medicine, and a number of Ross graduates have chosen to pursue their residency in our programs. As a student at Ross, you are probably already aware of the paperwork required by the New York State Education Department to complete a rotation at a New York State hospital. Here are the requirements for obtaining a clerkship rotation at Wilson Medical Center:

  1. Contact Julie Gunster, student coordinator at Wilson to request a rotation. You will need to have Julie send a letter to the New York State Education Department confirming your acceptance for a clerkship.
  2. Request a letter from Ross University to be sent to the New York State Education Department confirming that:
    1. You are currently enrolled at Ross University in good standing
    2. Your anticipated date of graduation
    3. You have been authorized to perform clerkships in New York State
    4. The dates for which you are authorized to pursue these clerkships
    5. The academic credit that will be granted for each clerkship
    6. The teaching hospital in which each clerkship will be performed (i.e. Wilson Medical Center)
  3. Contact the New York State Department of Education (518-474-3817, Ext. 560) and request a letter of eligibility. You will need to specify:
    1. The teaching hospital in which the clerkships(s) have been arranged
    2. The specialty area of the proposed clerkship(s)
    3. The inclusive dates of the proposed clerkship(s)
    4. Names of hospital(s), date(s) and specialty(s) of all previously completed clerkship(s) in New York State
    5. A $30 fee must accompany your request for EACH HOSPITAL IN WHICH YOU PLAN TO COMPLETE A CLERKSHIP
  4. Complete a health evaluation form (supplied by Wilson Medical Center and Upstate Medical University, the sponsoring organizations for each clerkship)
  5. Complete an insurance liability form (also supplied by Wilson and Upstate)
