One Year Programs
Wilson Medical Center supports one-year internship programs in Transitional Year and the Preliminary Medicine Year. These programs are primarily designed for the student planning to pursue advanced specialties such as Radiology, Anesthesiology, Ophthalmology, Pathology, Surgery, etc. which require these internship year programs. However, Wilson does welcome applications from students who are looking for a more traditional use of the one-year program to help in deciding on a specialty.
Wilson’s one-year programs are considered to be amongst the best in the country and, as such, are competitive for placement. Our strong balance between clinical experience, didactic learning and exceptional quality of life makes us an attractive option in preparation for your residency. In addition, our flexible curriculum allows plenty of time for electives both in the hospital and at other hospitals, providing you an opportunity to further explore the areas that most interest you.
