2009/2010 Family Medicine Residency Program

Salary $49,194

BENEFITS

• Insurance Coverage

• Health Insurance: Choose from two PPO plans.  United Health Plus or Blue Option.  UHS covers a major portion of the health insurance premiums.  Premiums are deducted bi-weekly from your paycheck.
• Life Insurance: Provided and paid for by the hospital, equal to your annual salary.
• Malpractice Insurance: Provided and paid for by the hospital.
• Dental Insurance: Standard and high option dental plans available at shared cost with the hospital.

• Personal Time Off

• PGY 1: 15 days and up to 6 holidays*
• PGY 2: 21 days and up to 6 holidays*
• PGY 3: 21 days and up to 6 holidays*
• *UHS pays for six calendar holidays per year which will have a variable effect on your schedule.  These include: New Years Day, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.  If a resident works one of these holidays, he/she will be eligible to take a compensatory day off within schedule restraints.

• Moving Allowance

• A moving allowance of $300 is provided to each resident.

• Professional Development Fund

• 1st and 2nd year residents are allotted $750/year to be used towards conferences, books, and/or other items related to your professional development (i.e. PDA’s, software, stethoscopes, etc.) This allotment increases to $1,500 in your third year of residency which is designated for board application fees.

• Academic Appointments

• All residents receive an academic appointment as Clinical Assistant Instructors at Upstate Medical University (SUNY), Syracuse, New York.
• Osteopathic residents receive an additional academic appointment with the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine.

• Athletic/Gym Privileges

• Residents have access to the non-fee based athletic facilities at Binghamton University:  gymnasium, weight room, indoor and outdoor tracks, pools, racquetball and tennis courts.

• Pharmacy

• Prescriptions may be filled at cost through the hospital pharmacy.

ON-SITE HOUSING
On-site housing is available at Eckelberger Tower, conveniently located across from the hospital.  This spacious and comfortable facility is exclusively for the use of the residents and visiting medical students at Wilson Medical Center.  Rent includes: electricity, gas, water, air conditioning, laundry room, off-street parking, trash removal and fitness room.
We're adding: standard cable television and wireless internet to this on each of the sections it's listed as it's new this year.

Rent:           1 Bedroom Apartment: $550/month
                     2 Bedroom Apartment: $675/month
                     3 Bedroom Apartment: $900/month
