Family Medicine Program Highlights
With a dedicated faculty committed to providing you one-one-one attention and
support, an exciting and diverse group of intelligent and dynamic fellow
residents and state-of-the-art facilities, Wilson Family Medicine Program is a
top choice for completing your residency training:
- No competing residencies give you ample time to learn
procedures and gain experience.
- A strong balance between hands-on clinical and
academic training, including research opportunities and a regular schedule
of conferences and grand rounds.
- Outstanding obstetrics preparation and full exposure
to procedures including C-Sections; opportunities also exist to pursue
enhanced obstetrics care in a rural environment.
- Gain competency performing colposcopies, minor
surgery, cryotherapy, endometrial biopsies, and other procedures.
- Neonatal training includes access to a Level II NICU
and full-time neonatologist.
- Pursue sports medicine while working with local
athletic teams.
- Geriatrics experience includes exposure to a nursing
home environment and visiting patients at home.
- The Johnson City Family Care Center, attached to
Wilson, is your single training site, eliminating the need to travel between
multiple facilities; this center houses specialty clinics including:
- Gynecology
- Dermatology (supervised by board certified
dermatologist)
- Surgical (including skin biopsy and lymphoma
removal)
- Ophthalmology (supervised by board certified
ophthalmologist)
- Osteopathic Manipulative Therapy
- Eating Disorders
- Laser/Cosmetic Clinic
- A socio-economically, ethnically and culturally
diverse patient population will broaden your scope of patient care and
expose you to a wide range of clinical pathology.
- Moonlighting opportunities available in the
second and third years of training.
- Fellowships are available in Geriatrics and
Sports Medicine
- A wide range of full-time, part-time and
volunteer faculty from practices throughout the area share their
expertise with you.
