Cardiac Rehabilitation
The cardiac rehabilitation program at United Health Services
Hospitals begins upon admission and continues after the
patient goes home. It is designed to help patients recover
from their heart ailments and return to a healthy lifestyle.
There are three phases for patients in the cardiac
rehabilitation program: Phase one is the inpatient
rehabilitation for patient’s recovering from bypass surgery,
heart attack or an angioplasty.
Phase two is the outpatient cardiac rehabilitation for
patients who have been discharged from their acute hospital
care and now need to be returned to pre-hospital health. In
this phase the patient has close supervision and prescribed
therapies. Phase three is an open gym with limited supervision (healthy
heart) and is a maintenance program.
The dedicated staff of cardiac care nurses, backed by an
exercise physiologist specially trained in the
rehabilitation of heart patients, works closely with
attending physicians to provide a full range of exercise,
education and counseling services to patients.
A fully equipped gymnasium is dedicated to the cardiac
rehabilitation process. Other programs offered include the
Healthy Heart Program, Weight Management Program and
Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program. Family members and
caregivers are welcomed and encouraged to attend, and can
play an important role in the rehabilitation process.
We also offer several
classes to
help monitor your health and pursue a healthy lifestyle
after a cardiac event.
