Yahia M Lodi MD., FAHA., is a Neuro-endovascular specialist and Professor of Neurology, Neurosurgery & Radiology at Upstate Medical University who is also board certified in Neurocritical Care, vascular Neurology (stroke) and Neurology. Dr. Lodi is in partnership with Southern New York Neurosurgergical group as being an Upstate employee.
Dr. Lodi has relocated to Upstate Medical University Binghamton clinical campus, NY in October1, 2011 as a Director of the Comprehensive Stroke and Endovascular Program, and Neurosciences Academic Chair.
Dr. Lodi provides services at Wilson Memorial Hospital for patients with acute stroke, subarachnoid hemorrhage, carotid artery stenosis, vertebral artery stenosis, intracranial carotid, vertebral and basilar artery stenosis, brain aneurysm, arteriovenous malformation (AVM), arteriovenous fistula (AVF) and brain tumors require embolization. The state-of-the-art catheter based technology allows him to provide treatment of ischemic stroke patients up to 8 hours of symptoms onset, who are poor candidates for intravenous thrombolytic therapy or failed intravenous therapy, and who present with stroke beyond the three hours window. This innovative catheter based technology also allows him to provide therapy for hemorrhagic stroke due to brain aneurysm by using platinum detachable coils and stent. Resent technology also allows him to treat carotid stenosis safely by using stent with a distal cerebral protection device.
Dr. Lodi has been actively involved in the experimental and clinical research in developing new catheter based therapies for acute stroke victims. His clinical research interests are stent-assisted treatment of wide-necked complex intracranial aneurysms and advanced endovascular techniques in acute stroke therapy. Dr. Lodi published numerous articles in the peer-reviewed journals and presented the results of his research in many national and international meetings. Dr. Lodi has had an opportunity of speaking in many national and international meetings as a guest speaker.
Research Interests:
  • Endovascular strategies to improve outcome in stroke, complex aneurysms and AVM/AVF.
  • Endothelium and blood clot interaction and role of vasodilators in stroke therapy.
