Signs and Symptoms of Prostate Cancer

Men often experience no symptoms during the early stages of prostate cancer.  That’s why many cases are not detected until the disease has spread beyond the prostate.  Early detection is the key!  Talk to your doctor about whether prostate cancer screening is right for you.  When symptoms present themselves, they may include any of the following:

  • Urgency of urination or frequent urination at night
  • Difficulty starting urination or weak or intermittent urine flow
  • Painful urination or blood in the urine
  • A sensation that the bladder doesn’t empty completely
  • Painful ejaculation
  • Dull pain in the lower pelvic area; lower back, hips or upper thighs
  • Persistent bone pain
  • Loss or appetite and weight
