UHS has two hospitals and over 20 physician practice sites throughout Greater Binghamton and Broome and Tioga Counties. UHS Chenango Memorial Hospital and its primary care, dental and other clinical services, are located in Chenango County. With an area of 900 square miles and a population of approximately 50,000, Chenango County is known for its warm, friendly people, unrivaled lifestyle and beautiful natural surroundings. The county has been the home of many well-known businesses including Procter and Gamble Pharmaceuticals, Borden’s evaporated milk, Elmer’s products and Champion. Currently businesses including Chobani Yogurt, Raymond Corporation and Golden Artist Colors call Chenango home.
Chenango County is centrally located in the Southern Tier region of New York State. The county seat, Norwich, a thriving community of more than 7,000 residents, is located within a 50-mile radius of the cities of Binghamton, Syracuse, Utica, Cooperstown and Oneonta. It is just 215 miles to New York City, and 100 miles to Albany. However, local residents don’t have to travel that far for cultural and recreational pursuits. There are many opportunities right at home including the annual Colorscape Chenango Arts Festival, Norwich Pumpkin Festival, Chenango Blues Festival, General Clinton Canoe Regatta, and annual world championship motocross racing.
