The Cleft-Craniofacial Care Team of the Southern Tier

The Cleft-Craniofacial Care Team of the Southern Tier is a team of professionals who meet on a monthly basis to assist patients and their families in management and care of individuals born with cleft lip and palate and other craniofacial disorders. The team consists of plastic surgeons, orthodontists, dentists, neurosurgeon, otolaryngologist, speech-language pathologists, social workers, case managers, nurses, audiologist, psychologists and community service representatives. All members have experience and special interest in helping individuals with these conditions. The team has been providing care to the Southern Tier community for more than 20 years.

Children born with cleft lip and palate have a number of concerns that need to be dealt with throughout their lifetime. The team provides a forum for professionals from each discipline to assess each child as an individual and coordinate a care plan that addresses the needs of the child as a whole in a manner that provides optimal outcomes for physical, psychological, cognitive and social development. The team also serves as a resource for families and professionals in the community.
