Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
If you are expecting a baby, count on UHS where we specialize in complicated and uncomplicated pregnancies. Our comprehensive services include the area's only Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
At Wilson Medical Center we have neonatologists available 24 hours a day. We also have the area’s only New York State Certified Level 3 Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). This means we have the people and technology to provide the highest levels of care for even the tiniest of new arrivals. This will give you the peace of mind that comes with knowing your baby has the most advanced care available—just in case.
Chances are you will deliver a healthy, full-term baby. But just in case, it's reassuring to know that our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit is ready to provide critical care to premature infants, low birth weight babies and those with special needs.
Sophisticated equipment, advanced technology and our highly-trained staff have helped thousands of infants since the unit opened over 30 years ago.
And this important care is delivered in a sensitive environment dedicated to the developmental needs of the babies. Obstetricians and parents have such confidence in the unit that most of the region's uncomplicated and complicated births occur at UHS Wilson Medical Center. The New York State Department of Health has designated the unit as the area’s only Level 3 nursery for caring for both babies and their mothers.
Our staff of obstetricians, certified nurse midwives and nurse practitioners includes the area’s only perinatologist and neonatologist to care for high risk pregnancies and newborns.
