Cleft-Craniofacial Care

About the Team

For more than 30 years, the Cleft-Craniofacial Care Team of the Southern Tier has been helping children born with cleft lip, cleft palate and other craniofacial disorders by providing coordinated management and care.

All our team members have experience with and special interest in assisting children with these conditions, as well as helping their families. The team is composed of the following:

  • Plastic surgeons
  • Orthodontists
  • Dentists
  • Neurosurgeon
  • Otolaryngologist
  • Speech-language pathologists
  • Social workers/case managers
  • Nurses
  • Audiologist
  • Psychologists
  • Community service representatives

Children born with cleft lip and palate face a number of issues throughout their lives. Through the Cleft-Craniofacial Care Team, professionals from each discipline assess the child and coordinate a care plan that addresses that child’s needs in a manner that provides optimal outcomes for physical, psychological, cognitive and social development. The team also serves as a resource for families and professionals in the community.
