Discharge Day Billing and Insurance Information
If you have questions about your health insurance or your hospital bill, a
Patient Accounting representative will be happy to answer your questions by
phone, or will come to your room, please ask your nurse.
Discharge Patients are generally discharged at the front entrance of the hospital. If
you will be driving your loved one home from the hospital after they are
discharged, check with the patient’s nurse to plan for how much time it will
take to get the patient’s belongings together and bring the patient to the front
entrance. This way you can bring your car to that area in plenty of time.
We will bill your insurance at your request when you provide us with the
necessary information. We accept all major credit cards.
After you go home, if you have questions about your account, call: Patient
Accounting at (607)762-3186.
Social Services, Discharge Planning, & Home Health Care If you will need special help at home after you are discharged form the
hospital, United Health Services Hospitals staff are here to coordinate
assistance. They can help you arrange for a personal care aide or a home duty
nurse, services such as Meals on Wheels, or equipment such as a wheelchair,
walker, commode or oxygen. For assistance, speak with your nurse.
After your hospital stay is over, you have an opportunity to open the door to
better health by discovering the resources of the Stay
Healthy Center, located at the Oakdale Mall next to Sears. It can help you
find ways to live a healthier, happier life.
The whole family can benefit from the programs and assistance available at the
center.
Project HEAR Project H.E.A.R. is a Home Emergency Alarm Response system which operates 24
hours a day, seven days a week, through your home telephone. It is an affordable
alternative for people who want the reassurance of help if they need it – the
elderly, infirmed, single parent with young children, or anyone who desires
security and peace of mind.
With the HEAR activator, emergency help is available with the touch of a button.
The lightweight activators are available in pendant or wristband styles. They
are completely portable with no wires attached, weigh less than two ounces and
are waterproof so they can be worn in the shower or bath. If help is needed, you
simply press the button on the activator. The signal is then passed through the
H.E.A.R. control unit in your home to the Emergency Response Center at
Binghamton General Hospital. Automatically, your message is received and your
name and personal information flash on the computer screen. Within seconds, a
trained specialist speaks to you, even if you are in another room. Whether you
are able to speak or not, the emergency response operator will speak to you, and
immediately, appropriate emergency aid is dispatched to you. This valuable
system even works if there is a power outage.
If you are worried about a family member or friend, Project H.E.A.R. is the
perfect gift for a loved one.
