Behavioral Health

UHS provides Behavioral Health programs to Binghamton and surrounding communities.  Behavioral Health includes programs to address Chemical Dependency (addiction) and Mental Health concerns.  All of our programs offer prompt access to services within our continuum of care, staffed by individuals that are committed to providing any assistance needed in a timely fashion.

Behavioral Health Inpatient Programs

Binghamton General Hospital
10-42 Mitchell Avenue, Binghamton, NY 13903

The inpatient programs of the UHS Binghamton Mental Health Services provide a therapeutic environment with assessment and treatment by a multi-disciplinary team of nurses, social workers, rehabilitation therapists, mental health technicians, psychologists, and psychiatrists.  Treatment is coordinated by an attending psychiatrist.  One-on-one counseling is augmented by therapeutic groups and activities.  The units offer admission and treatment services 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

The needs of patients are addressed in each of the four environments (living, learning, working and social/leisure). The scope of services is driven by patients’ verbalized readiness and need.

Behavioral Health support services are provided directly by the hospital or through referral contacts as clinically necessary and appropriate.  A full array of medical support services within the UHSH health care system is available and utilized by patients when appropriate.  Contacts with involved community providers and significant others are encouraged at time of admission and throughout the discharge planning process.

UHS also offers a full range of treatments in the greater Binghamton area for Addiction and Outpatient Mental Health.
