Addiction & Chemical Dependency

New Horizons offers prompt access to services for people suffering from alcohol or drug-related problems.  We offer confidential assessment service to assist the patient and/or referral agency in determining the presence and severity of alcohol or other psychoactive substance abuse or dependence.  At the same time, we provide recommendation and referral to the appropriate level of care. Appointments can be made by calling the appointment line numbers listed below.  Patients will be seen within 24 hours for emergent situations and within 72 hours for non-emergency appointments.

Patients, family members, and referring sources may contact New Horizons at (607) 762-3232 during business hours to schedule an assessment or to discuss our treatment services.  During evening, and weekend hours, persons may call the detoxification unit at (607) 762-2255. 

Licensed professional staff working as an integrated team provide treatment at all levels of care. Team members include Board Certified Addictionists, Physicians, Psychologists, Nurses and Social Workers.

Medically Managed Detox:
Patients who need detoxification are treated in a medically managed level of care.   Detoxification is provided for alcohol, opiates, prescription drugs, and other substances.  Treat modalities include pharmacology, relaxation techniques, group and individual counseling, introduction to self help programs, family sessions, and education. Suboxone is prescribed in conjunction with other outpatient treatment program participation.  Patients see physicians and counseling staff for ongoing services.

Inpatient Treatment:
The inpatient unit provides acute, highly structured, goal oriented, short term treatment.   Treatment combines a 12 step philosophy with a variety of other treatment modalities.  Length of stay is variable, based on individual need.  Program features include group therapy, education, discussion, 12 step meetings, relaxation techniques, milieu therapy, family education and therapy.

Emergency admissions to both inpatient units are available twenty four hours a day.

Outpatient Services

The Outpatient Treatment Programs offer diversified levels of care, tailored to the individual patient.  Each patient is assigned to a clinical team that facilitates the treatment of each individual’s needs.  Our schedule is flexible and most patients are able to continue working while in this program.  More information about each level of care can be obtained by calling the main information line listed above.  The diversified levels of care include:
