'Treasured Chests' to step out for Wendy's Walk for Kids

The UHS Breast Center in Vestal has launched "Treasured Chests," a Team UHS group, to walk in the upcoming "Wendy's Walk for Kids."

The walk will be held on Sunday, Aug. 17, at the En-Joie Golf Course in Endicott, in connection with the Dick's Sporting Goods Open PGA golf event.

"We have formed a team to participate in this year's walk," said Camelia Lawrence, MD, FACS, breast surgeon at UHS Vestal.  "Last year this activity raised $245,000 to benefit four selected charities in the community."

This year's four charities are ACHIEVE, the Food Bank of the Southern Tier, the JCC of Binghamton and the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption.

Wendy's Walk was started several years ago by a group of Wendy's Restaurants employees.  The annual event provides support for programs whose purpose is to help children in the community realize their full potential.
