Hand/Sports Medicine Surgeon Joins UHS Orthopedics Norwich Practice
UHS Chenango Memorial Hospital welcomes an additional physician to UHS Orthopedics Norwich. Tariq Hussain, MD, who is board-certified in orthopedic surgery through Canada’s Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons and board-eligible through American Board of Physician Specialties, is fellowship-trained in sports medicine and hand surgery. He is now seeing patients at the UHS Orthopedics Norwich office, 4 Newton Avenue.
Dr. Hussain offers a full scope of orthopedics, including hand surgery, total joint replacement surgery, sports medicine and interventional pain management.
Dr. Hussain has practiced orthopedics in Upstate New York since 2004. He joins Dr. Daniel Downs at the UHS orthopedics practice. Chris Kisacky, Vice President Operations, said that Dr. Hussain’s specialties complement those of Dr. Downs, and “we now can offer an even more extensive range of orthopedics services.” She stated that Dr. Anthony Cicoria and Melissa Tworkowsky, RPA-C, who have been on UHS Chenango Memorial Hospital’s medical staff for many years, are continuing to practice at their Court Street location and at the hospital. “Employing Dr. Hussain adds to our capacity to serve local orthopedic needs here at UHS Chenango Memorial. Having both Dr. Downs and Dr. Hussain in this practice enables our medical staff to serve more patients with even more of the high quality orthopedic services local residents expect and deserve.”
Dr. Hussain is a graduate of Dow Medical College, Karachi, Pakistan, and has a degree in orthopedics from University College, London, England. His surgical training was in Pakistan and England, followed by an orthopedic residency at Southend University Hospital, Westcliff-on-Sea, England.
