UHS Foundation to participate in New York Gives Day

Giving Tuesday is a global day of giving fueled by the power of social media and collaboration.

Created by the team at the Belfer Center for Innovation & Social Impact at the 92nd Street Y—a cultural center in New York City that, since 1874, has been bringing people together around the values of service and giving back — #GivingTuesday connects diverse groups of individuals, communities and organizations around the world for one common purpose: to celebrate and encourage giving. A team of influencers and founding partners joined forces, collaborating across sectors, offering expertise and working tirelessly, to launch #GivingTuesday and have continued to shape, grow and strengthen the movement.

Celebrated on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday, #GivingTuesday kicks off the charitable season, when many focus on their holiday and end-of-year giving.

One of the best ways to get involved is in your own community. The UHS Foundation is partnering with other area not for profits in what is called New York Gives Day.

The New York Council of Nonprofits (NYCON), in partnership with United Way of New York State (UWNYS), has announced a fundraising goal of $10 Million for New York Gives Day, a 24-hour giving challenge for New York nonprofits happening on 11/29/16, this year’s #GivingTuesday.

Building on the momentum of the #GivingTuesday movement, #NYGivesDay aims to energize New York’s nonprofit community and inspire heightened giving from their supporters.

We would love for you to partner with us on November 29th. We will be at the Oakdale Mall on November 29th from 8am to 5pm. There will be giveaways and raffle drawings for your participation in this one of a kind day of giving. If you cannot join us click here for the direct link for giving.
