NYS Marketplace - Affordable Health Insurance

Need health insurance? Open enrollment ends January 31, 2016. Contact UHS Financial Advocates at 607-763-5386, Monday to Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Or upon request, Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.

New York State Marketplace is adding an “Essential Plan” to its health exchange offerings for low-income residents. The plan offers no annual deductible and lower co-payments.

The Essentials plan is aimed at being a bridge between customers eligible for Medicaid and those who can get credits through their income taxes by enrolling in private plans. To be eligible for no monthly premiums, households need to be at or below 150 percent of the federal poverty level – which is $17,655 for an individual or $36,375 for a family of four.

For those with incomes at 200 percent of the federal poverty level ($23,540 for a household of one; $48,500 for a household of four), they will have a monthly premium of $20 for each adult, the state said.

New Yorkers with incomes up to 400 percent of the federal poverty level ($47,080 for individuals and $97,000 for a family of four) can get financial assistance to reduce premiums through the exchange.

Let a UHS Financial Advocate assist you or someone you know in navigating the NYS Marketplace to ensure you are protected right in 2016.
