March is National Nutrition Month! Get fit Friday tips here!  

Nutrition monthIn honor of National Nutrition Month, UHS Stay Healthy Kids Wellness Program and the New York State Department of Health Childhood Obesity Grant bring to you “Fit Friday” tips.

This week’s tip:
Key to Healthy Eating from the “Let’s Move Presidential Challenge”
     1-Make half your plate fruits and vegetables
     2-Make at least half of the grains you eat whole grains
     3-Choose fat-free or low fat milk, yogurt, or cheese
     4-Drink water instead of sugary drinks
     5-Choose lean sources of protein
     6-Compare sodium in foods like soups and frozen meals  and choose foods with less sodium
     7-Eat seafood
     8-Eat smaller portions
