Check out November’s Adult Weight Management and Wellness Seminars

UHS Hospitals present a free adult weight management program. Each month will feature a different topic and guest speaker. Free give away at each presentation. Attendees will be entered for a drawing. Seating is limited. Registration is required for each individual presentation so register early. Program meets at UHS Stay Healthy Center, located at the Oakdale Mall in Johnson City next to Sears. For information please call 763-5092.

Wednesday, November 4 - Join us for a special seminar. Cornell Cooperative Extension will present a special lesson on nutrition facts, labels, recipe modifications, and budget friendly grocery shopping tips. They will do a cooking demonstration using the skills presented during the seminar. You can use these skills and recipe modifications to make your Thanksgiving dinner healthy and delicious! There will be an optional group discussion from 7:00 to 7:30 p.m. Register online here.

Wednesday, November 11 - Topic for this month is Daily Exercise Doesn't Have to Sound So Scary. Guest speaker will be the exercise physiologists from UHS cardiac rehab. Take advantage of this opportunity to learn from the real professionals. Just about anyone can call themselves a “personal trainer,” an exercise physiologist is a health care professional who has completed a degree in exercise physiology and/or has been certified by the American Society of Exercise Physiologists (ASEP). What does an exercise physiologist do? They oversee the analysis, improvement, and maintenance of health and fitness; rehabilitation of heart disease and other chronic diseases and disabilities. Discussion will include incorporating exercise into your daily life and reviewing guidelines. They will be available to answer any questions you might have and give ideas on exercise programs.
