Carolyn Mancini chosen for Health Leadership Award

A UHS Foundation trustee and advocate for quality women's health in Greater Binghamton is the recipient of the Foundation's 2015 Women Fore Women Health Leadership Award.

Carolyn Mancini was praised by a nominator for "advocating for the best diagnostic equipment available and for focusing on funding for women's health issues."

"At the core of Carolyn's being are her natural leadership skills, interest in the success and well-being of others, support for women in their aspirations and undying commitment to
our community," the letter of nomination said.

Betsy Pietriyk, executive director of the UHS Foundation, noted: "Carolyn is an extraordinary person and very deserving of this award. She is genuinely interested in the well-being of others, and demonstrates initiative and resourcefulness in helping to improve our community's healthcare."

Ms. Mancini will receive the award in September at the Women Fore Women Golf Classic, an annual women's health benefit tournament presented by the Foundation.

Ms. Mancini has been an active corporate member and member of the Board of Trustees of the Foundation for more than 15 years, serving as chair of the board for three years.

In addition, she has volunteered on the golf classic committee and played in the tourney for 15 years.

"She does all of that, in addition to being a very active and supportive member of the Binghamton University Foundation as well," her nominator said.

Since earning a degree in public relations from Marywood College in the Scranton, Pa., area, Ms. Mancini has spent most of her professional career in the construction industry.

She is president and owner of OGGI Concrete Forms & Accessories, and vice president of Andrew R. Mancini Associates, a Southern Tier-based contracting firm specializing in university,
hospital and large-office construction.

The Mancini firm has been a lead sponsor of the Women Fore Women golf event for several years.

The UHS Foundation has presented the Women Fore Women Health Leadership Award annually since 2004, in connection with its golf classic, which raises significant dollars toward the
prevention and treatment of breast cancer and related women's health concerns.

Each year's award recipient is a provider, advocate, educator, fundraiser, role model or member of the community at large who is a strong leader and works toward improving women's quality of life.
