UHS offers free support groups

UHS in the Southern Tier hosts a number of support groups that are free and open to the public.

Registration in advance is required; call 763-5092 at UHS Stay Healthy at the Oakdale Mall for the location of each group and to sign up, or you can sign up online at uhs.net.

Currently, groups include:

  • “Art a la Carte,” the Women’s Expressive Art Support Group, which meets from noon to 2 p.m., on the first Tuesday in January, March, May, July, September and November.
  • Tea with Ruth, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., on the second Tuesday of each month.
  • Mugs for Men, from 6 to 7 p.m., on the third Tuesday of each month.
  • Women’s Cancer Support Group, from 6 to 7 p.m., on the fourth Wednesday of each month (except for November and December, when the meeting is on the third Wednesday).
  • Children’s Support Group, at 4 p.m., every other Thursday. (To register for this group only, contact Katrina Mallery, social worker, at 763-6850.)
  • Caregivers’ Support Group, from 6 to 7 p.m., on the third Tuesday of each month.
  • Diabetes (Type 1) Adult Support Group, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., on the first Tuesday of each month.
