UHS to host 'Shine a Light' for lung cancer awareness

Shine A LightIf you were to ask most people to name the leading cause of cancer death in the United States, they would be likely to say breast, prostate or colon cancer.

But the truth is that lung cancer takes more lives each year than those three other cancers combined.

To bring attention to the prevention and treatment of this disease, UHS will join with the Lung Cancer Alliance to present "Shine A Light on Lung Cancer," an awareness event to be held starting at 12:30 p.m., today, Nov. 6, at the UHS Cancer Center at Wilson Square, 30 Harrison St., Johnson City.

Speakers will be Madhuri Yalamanchili, MD, medical oncologist; and Jennifer Schecter, NP, lung screening provider.

The presentation is designed to bring hope, inspiration and support to the lung cancer community.

"Shine a Light" is free and open to the public.  It will be of special interest to those whose lives or family members' lives have been touched by lung cancer.
