UHS Senior Living staff honored at Long-Term Care Association Luncheon

Eight UHS Senior Living staff were among those recognized by the Long-Term Care Administrators of the Southern Tier at their 8th annual recognition luncheon Wednesday, October 1 at the Double Tree Hotel in Binghamton.  Crystal Barrows, CNA, and Nicole Wake, RD, who work at UHS Senior Living at Chenango Memorial, and Ali N Al-Aubaidy, FSW; Kate Fowlston, CNA;  Christie Ireton, CNA; Christine Samsel, SW; and Tara Williams (beauty shop), who work at UHS Senior Living at Ideal, were among 65 long-term care staff honored from 15 skilled nursing facilities in Broome, Tioga, Chenango and Cortland counties.

The honorees had been selected as “employees of distinction” at their own facilities. At the celebratory luncheon each was presented with a framed certificate and a beveled glass award in recognition of exceptional effort and dedication to residents.  The event’s keynote speaker was Dr. Francis Battisti, Executive Vice President and Chief Academic Officer/SUNY Distinguished Service Professor at SUNY Broome.

Mary Lou Faust, who coordinated the luncheon, explained that the event is designed to honor the hardworking staff members of the area’s long-term care facilities.  “These individuals provide essential services that contribute to our long-term care residents’ comfort, health and wellbeing.  They are the backbone of the long-term care system, providing hands-on care, managing building maintenance, planning activities and planning and serving delicious, nutritious meals.  We are pleased to have this opportunity to recognize their dedication and to honor them.”
