UHS Delaware Valley Hospital’s Community Pharmacy to Open Oct. 1

Delaware Valley Hospital is pleased to announce the opening of its Community Pharmacy, located on the hospital’s campus, next to the Physical Rehabilitation Department, at 121 Stockton Avenue in Walton.

Gayle Klein is the supervising pharmacist, while Meghan Owen is the staff pharmacist. Rounding out the staff are Alexis Lewis and Michelle Darling, pharmacy technicians and Sara Kuebler, pharmacy assistant.

“Our goal is to provide high quality, helpful and friendly service to our customers,” said Gayle, and our customers can be anyone, regardless of where they live or who they have for a physician.” It was a point Gayle wanted to stress as some have questioned whether they can use the pharmacy if they don’t use Delaware Valley Hospital or a Delaware Valley Hospital physician.

The new pharmacy will offer many benefits to all area residents; including convenient hours,
competitive pricing, price matching, and no charge to mail prescriptions to your home or designated address when you cannot get to the store itself. The Community Pharmacy also offers quick and easy transfer options for those who wish to transfer their prescriptions to the new facility.

“The one sticking point we have at the moment is that we have not yet received final approval to fill prescriptions covered by Medicaid, Cigna and some Excellus Blue Cross plans,” said Dotti Kruppo, Director of Community Relations. “It has been a lengthy process and we decided we did not want to continue to keep a large portion of the community waiting for us to open while we wait for those authorizations.”  She continued, “We can take most insurances at this time, and as soon as we receive word that we can process prescriptions through these insurers, we will get the word out, and any patients with these insurers who have contacted us will be called as soon as we know we can fill their orders.  Pharmacy staff is available to answer any questions and can be reached at 607-865-2781.

The hospital is planning an open house event on Sunday, October 5 from Noon to 2 PM to celebrate. Light refreshments will be served. RSVP is not required but appreciated. Call Community Relations at 607-865-2409 for more details.
