UHS Delaware Valley Hospital names new President/CEO

Helen Johnston, RN, Chairperson of the Board of Directors of Delaware Valley Hospital announced the appointment of Paul Summers as the hospital’s new President and CEO.

Summers joined the hospital staff in 2003, serving as its Chief Financial Officer. In making the announcement Ms. Johnston stated, “We feel Paul has the experience and knowledge of the healthcare climate and UHS Delaware Valley Hospital particularly, to assure the hospital will be successful in facing the challenges healthcare reform presents.”

His previous posts have included comptroller of Moses Taylor Hospital, in Pennsylvania; finance director of Kitsap Mental Health Services in Washington; and chief financial officer at Wallowa Memorial Hospital in Oregon, The Hospital in Sidney and UHS Delaware Valley Hospital.

Summers received his bachelor’s degree in accounting from Shippensburg University in Pennsylvania and has studied at The University of Scranton for his master’s degree in business administration.

In accepting the position, Paul said, “I am honored to have been selected to serve as the new President and CEO. The quality of the physicians, management and staff here, has always been motivational for me.

Paul resides in Oneonta with his wife, Leah. They have three grown children, and four grandchildren.
