UHS Chenango Memorial Hospital introduces on-site helipad services

On Saturday, September 20, noon to 2 p.m., weather permitting, UHS Chenango Memorial Hospital will host a get-acquainted event at its new helipad site to introduce the community to the medical helicopter service now available from a site on the hospital’s campus.

Through a partnership among several organizations, UHS Chenango Memorial Hospital has developed a helipad in its parking lot for emergency transport of critically ill patients via medical helicopter.

The hospital has put into place a response plan which already has been successful, transporting a patient who needed more extensive medical support at a distant facility efficiently and effectively.  Donna Faber, RN, Emergency Services Nurse Manager, praised the essential teamwork required among the hospital staff, Norwich Fire Department and the medical helicopter service. “There has been an extensive planning and training process among everyone involved. The safety of our patients, employees and the flight crew is our number one priority.”

UHS Chenango Memorial Hospital invites the public to see and learn more about the medical helicopter and to meet the folks responsible for providing this service for critically ill local patients.  There will be free giveaways and hot dogs.

UHS Chenango Memorial Hospital is a member of UHS, a locally owned, not-for-profit, 916-bed hospital and health care system serving the Greater Binghamton region from more than 60 locations around New York’s Southern Tier.
