UHS Chenango Memorial Hospital achieves state-wide distinction meeting national healthcare quality goals

Excellus BlueCross BlueShield, a major healthcare insurer, has recognized UHS Chenango Memorial Hospital’s dedication to national quality goals.  In a letter to Drake M. Lamen, MD, the hospital’s president and CEO, Excellus regional president Kevin J. McGurgan, stated that Chenango Memorial had achieved an outstanding 100 percent of the 2013 quality goals established by Excellus BlueCross BlueShield’s Small Hospital Incentive Program. 

The 17 quality measures tracked during 2013 are those used by CMS, the accrediting entity that governs the Medicare and Medicaid programs.  As the Excellus recognition letter stated, Chenango Memorial was recognized for meeting 100% of the quality goals in 2013 – the only one of the participating small hospitals in New York State to do so.  Mr. McGurgan stated, “Chenango Memorial Hospital’s dedication to improving quality to national performance levels is not only commendable, but serves as a tremendous example for all.”

Dr. Lamen commented that this distinction is one more way UHS Chenango Memorial Hospital is fulfilling its role as a regional hospital of choice for local residents.
