Governor Cuomo Proclaims May 7 as Health Care Auxilian Day

Governor Andrew Cuomo has proclaimed May 7, 2014 as Health Care Auxilian Day in New York State to recognize the dedicated auxiliary members who donate more than five million hours of service each year to their health care facilities and to their communities.

UHS Binghamton General Hospital, UHS Chenango Memorial Hospital, UHS Delaware Valley Hospital, UHS Wilson Medical Center and UHS Senior Living at Ideal are fortunate to have a strong cadre of very active auxiliary members who work diligently to support the hospitals’ mission to provide excellent patient - centered care. Auxilians initiate, fund and volunteer for a wide variety of patient and family care services. They raise funds for hospital equipment, improvements and services. There are approximately 850 volunteers throughout the UHS system.

In 2013, UHS auxilians donated over 103,500 hours, valued at over $2,250,000. Their fundraising allowed them to contribute generously to the hospitals they support. Recent donations included $40,377 to UHS Binghamton General Hospital; $12,000 to UHS Wilson Medical Center; $38,500 to UHS Chenango Memorial Hospital; and $14,000 to UHS Delaware Valley Hospital.

UHS Binghamton General Hospital and UHS Wilson Medical Center recognized their auxilians and volunteers at an April 8 luncheon, and they will celebrate again with an auxiliary board of directors breakfast in July. UHS Delaware Valley Hospital honored their volunteers with an appreciation luncheon in April. UHS Chenango Memorial Hospital honored their volunteers with a breakfast buffet April 10 and will celebrate again at their annual volunteer appreciation luncheon in May.
