At their April meeting, UHS Chenango Memorial Hospital’s Auxiliary board members presented a donation of $27,000 to Dr. Drake Lamen, the hospital’s president and chief executive  officer. The donation will help to support the hospital’s patient services, providing an upgrade to the phlebotomy room and resources toward MRI breast imaging services.

Dr. Lamen thanked the Auxiliary and remarked, “UHS Chenango Memorial Hospital is so fortunate to have the support our auxiliary provides. The personal resources they contribute in creativity, advocacy and fundraising are outstanding and our hospital administration and staff members appreciate all that they do for us.  Their efforts help us to achieve our goal to provide community members with exceptional, patient-centered care.”

This year’s donation was made possible through the many projects and fund-raising activities the Auxiliary and volunteers engaged in during 2012.  In large part, the funding came from the hospital’s gift shop and the Pink Door. Auxiliary president Marilyn Quinney explained that these two sources of income normally account for much of the Auxiliary’s income.  In addition, the Auxiliary has an annual membership drive and sponsors numerous fundraising activities including uniform sales, book  sales and its annual Breakfast with Santa. This year, fundraising included sales from the Golden Angels holiday décor sale, a book cart and the Auxiliary cookbook.  Ms. Quinney stated that public support of the Auxiliary’s activities is essential for their continued fundraising success.  “The support from the public, both in donations and sales, is incredible, and we thank everyone for their efforts on our behalf.”
