31 doctors graduate from UHS Medical Residency Program

Thirty-one doctors graduated from the UHS Medical Residency Program at a ceremony held June 7 at the Binghamton Country Club. Over 200 people attended the exercises, which recognized the medical residents who have completed their training at UHS Hospitals in 2013. The event was followed by a reception for the graduates and their families. Eight of the 31 newly minted doctors will be staying on with UHS to begin their medical practices.

Intense education for primary care physicians is the focus of UHS' three-year residencies, with fellowships also available in geriatrics and sports medicine. Established in 1971, the family medicine residency was the first in New York State and is one of the oldest of its kind in the country.
UHS' internal medicine residency has been nationally recognized for more than 50 years.
Over the years, more than 1,500 doctors have graduated from UHS, going on to practice in locations around the globe, from the United States to Third World countries to the South Pole.
UHS is a major teaching affiliate of the Clinical Campus at Binghamton of Upstate Medical University in Syracuse.
