Newborn Family Center
At Chenango Memorial Hospital, births take place in our Newborn Family Center. This family-friendly center features labor, delivery, postpartum and recovery rooms; a whirlpool bath to ease labor; a nursery; and a kitchen for laboring patients. Staff work hard to provide a secure and safe environment for you and your new baby.
New and returning mothers alike benefit from this brief overview of breastfeeding. The course, taught by a registered nurse, prepares moms for the challenges and rewards of breastfeeding, offering tips, methods, do’s and don’ts. Mothers not birthing at Chenango Memorial may also take the course. The class is usually held on the fourth Wednesday of every month at 7 p.m. in the Newborn Family Center. Registration is necessary; to register, please call 607.337.4145.
This four-session course provides an in-depth trip through the birthing process, presenting different methods, positions, techniques and possibilities during labor. After taking the class, parents often feel more informed and confident since they’ve gained an idea of what to expect. The course is held on four consecutive Monday evenings from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the Basement Conference Room on the lower level of the hospital. Registration is necessary; to register, please call 607.337.4145.
The arrival of a new sibling brings many changes to a household. That’s why we offer this class specifically for future big brothers and big sisters. A little special time with them before the birth of the new baby often helps them adjust and prepare for their new role. The hands-on class has a family atmosphere and is always a favorite among parents. Classes are scheduled as needed, and are typically held from 7 to 9 p.m. in the hospital’s Private Dining Room. For information, please call 607.337.4145.
