Senior Living Residents at Chenango Memorial help raise breast cancer awareness and aid patients
Residents at UHS Senior Living at Chenango Memorial are
getting involved in an exciting project designed to raise breast cancer
awareness and to aid patients receiving care.
Thomas, Mary Graham and Eleanor Curley, residents of UHS Senior Living
in Norwich, display the fleece blanket they and other nursing home
residents made to benefit local cancer patients.
BSW, the facility’s social worker, is facilitating this project for
residents to make a beautiful tie-fleece blanket to be raffled off. The
money from the raffle will be donated to Chenango Health Network for
their fund designed to help breast cancer patients. This fund helps by
providing gas cards for patient transportation and resources to help
Ms. Martin states, “Our residents enjoy staying
involved in activities that validate their connection to the community
at large. We provide many opportunities to keep them connected, and
they always look forward to worthwhile local initiatives like this one.
Many of them have been touched personally or have friends or family
members who have struggled with breast cancer. They understand the
value of the Health Network’s program.”
Raffle tickets are
available for purchase at the hospital gift shop, at Nice 'n Easy
Grocery Shoppes and Big Blue's Convenience Stores, Blueox in Oxford,
Bartle’s Pharmacy in Oxford or by calling Sue at 607-337-4019.
