New Technology at UHS Delaware Valley Hospital ED

UHS Delaware Valley Hospital s Emergency Room is now
using a new technology to serve their Emergency Services patients even
better.
According to Mary Doig, RN, Director of Ambulatory and
Emergency Services, the hospital recently implemented Med Host, an
all-inclusive electronic emergency department system. The system
incorporates documentation, computerized physician order entry and
discharge instructions.
Ms. Doig says, "This information system is
designed to make emergency department visits easier and more efficient.
Using electronic medical data management, we can increase patient
safety and track trends, which will help with staffing. Our Emergency Services patients traditionally have high
levels of satisfaction, but this new technology allows us to prepare a
printed discharge summary with easily understandable and legible
instructions for each patient to take home, making the patient
experience even better."
UHS Delaware Valley Hospital, now
celebrating it 60th anniversary, is a 25- bed facility based in Walton
and offering diagnostic and treatment services, acute care, and 24-hour
emergency care. The hospital is a member of UHS, a locally-owned,
not-for-profit, 916 -bed hospital and health care system serving the
greater Binghamton area.
