with training, We Can -- a six weeks program and materials for parents
to be held at the school, Health messages from Rex and Roxy and link to
UHS Stay Healthy Kids page. It also includes resources to support the
Kick-Off program with Rex and Roxy as developed by the Walton School
Wellness Committee and the UHS Delaware Valley Hospital team.
The donations were gladly received by the Walton Central Schools Board
of Education. Robbie Jean Rice, Walton School Wellness Committee chair,
introduced the presenters. The school committee has been coordinating
the implementation of these new resources to help improve the health and
nutrition knowledge of Walton students, staff and parents.
Six teachers have received the training in the use of the CATCH
program. The kit has many evidence-based physical activities and a
nutrition component. The program’s initial uses will be at the Townsend
Elementary School as well as the Middle School Fun and Fitness after
school program.
The kit is valued at $2,600. UHS Delaware Valley Hospital has pledged
its support for implementing and supporting these new programs in our
