UHS clinical areas to receive $776,749 in Foundation grants
The UHS Foundation Board of Trustees has authorized $775,749 in grants to UHS Hospitals, UHS Senior Living at Ideal and UHS Home Care for 2013. The funding includes $400,000 toward the creation of UHS Wilson’s new Intensive Care Unit, which began seeing patients in January. The ICU contribution is the third of five grants the Foundation has pledged to make to the intensive care modernization project.
The trustees also approved $325,000 in allocations to UHS Hospitals for clinical equipment, such as a surgical table, an anesthesia machine, ultrasound, digital radiology and gastrointestinal monitoring equipment.
Other items to be funded during 2013 include: At Ideal, flat-screen TVs and accessories, continuing care and staff training. At UHS Home Care, equipment to help patients avoid falls in the home and to cope with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
